History of our Luxury hotel in Provence, France
It is in the heart of the Alpilles, at the foot of the once-mighty citadel of Les Baux-de-Provence, rooted in a place of legends nicknamed le Val d’Enfer (Hell’s Valley) , that the Baumanière’s story started in 1945...
... when Raymond Thullier bought a Provencal farmhouse in this isolated and deserted place in order to make it a gastronomic hotel and restaurant.
In no time, this hostile site became a peaceful heaven hidden from public adopted by lots of artists and famous people.
How could we blame them for loving this historic sunny place with so many assets?
Indeed, the Vallée des Baux-de-Provence benefits from a unique terroir: exceptional vineyards whose Jean André Charial knows how to combine all the tastes in his wine “L’Affectif”, a fruity AOP olive oil from Vallée des Baux-de-Provence, without forgetting the Mediterraneen fruits and vegetables which are sublimated by our chef Glenn Viel, two Michelin stars.
This little piece of heaven in one of the most beautiful villages of France (Plus Beaux Villages de France®) dominated by a millenary castle offers a historic break through its incredible heritage from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Strolling in the footsteps of past civilizations at the edge of ruins dominating a sumptuous panorama over the Provencal plains full of vineyards and olive trees craddled by the cicadas songs brought by a fresh wind makes a unique and magical experience which no one can be indifferent.
