Marcel Pagnol walks: 4 not-to-be-missed walks

The Garlaban, the land of Marcel Pagnol

Le Garlaban is a mountain located near the town of Aubagne, Marcel Pagnol’s hometown. This mountain features prominently in several of his literary and cinematographic works, particularly in the childhood memories he recounts in his autobiographical novels “La Gloire de mon Père” and “Le Château de ma Mère”.

Symbolising his Provençal roots and his attachment to the region’s nature, he often evoked the Garlaban in his writings, describing its green hills, fragrant paths and picturesque landscapes.

Aubagne is now a place of commemoration for all fans of the Provençal artist. It is home to the “Mas de la Treille”, Pagnol’s family home, which is now a museum dedicated to the author and his work.
