Baumanière’s wines
Baux-de-Provence’s wines : l’Affectif and l’Invitation
The vineyard is the second passion of the owner and winemaker, Jean André Charial. He produces his own wines whose vines are biodynamically grown in the heart of the Alpilles, a unique terroir: l’Affectif and l’Invitation.
L’Affectif
At the Domaine de Lauzières with his friend Jean-Daniel Schaepfer, he haves birth to vintages of L’Affectif with hand-picked grapes from organically cultivated vines, certfiied ECOCERT – AOC Baux-de-Provence. From a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre for red wine, Grenache, Counoise and Cinsault for rosé, they are a natural expression of the “terroir”of the Alpilles. Jean-André Charial produces 3,000 (instead of 8,000) bottles of red and 1,000 bottles of rosé in keeping with his convictions, giving a yield of 25 hl per hectare (2.5 acres).
L’Invitation
In 2019, he teamed up with René Milan of the Fontchêne family domain, another renowned vintner benefiting from the soil and characteristics of the Alpilles, and sharing the same values: attentiveness to plantlife and recognition of the importance of living organisms, thus ensuring greater biodiversity. Jean-André then developed two new IGP Alpilles vintages: L’Invitation blanc, a blend of white Grenache, Clairette, Roussanne and Marsanne – and L’Invitation rosé, 100% Grenache.
